Hollis Wilson, LCMHC

I found myself pursuing a degree in counseling after working internationally with women who had been sexually abused and trafficked. I knew I needed more training to really help so I made the decision to further my own education and skills. I also understand from my own story how devastating trauma can be in our lives, and the daily challenges we as women face. In every role we play there is so much expected of us and often not much time to truly care for ourselves.

So fast forward to today and my passion for walking alongside women as they find freedom and healing has only grown. My hope is to hold space for women as they find their way to the fullest and healthiest version of themselves. My approach to counseling is through an integrative lens that helps women connect to their mind, body, and spirit to find complete healing and wholeness.

I graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2016 with a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling. I have experience working with diverse populations in a variety of settings. As an intern I helped women coming out of incarceration and provided counseling services to women in our local jail. Once licensed I served at Forest Hill Church as a counselor and outreach worker with a focus on assisting marginalized women. Following this I worked at a private practice where I spent time both in my office and at a local non profit for teenage girls caught in sexual exploitation and trafficking.

My background and training includes completing a 200 hr yoga teacher training in 2015 at the Asheville Yoga Center. I often integrate components of mindfulness and body movement in sessions. I am also trained in Level I and II Brainspotting which is a highly effective and integrative counseling approach with trauma.

My hope for the women I work with is that they would come to a deeper understanding of their own story and find the freedom to be who they were created to be.

2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
